How it Works

Member Commitment

  • Each member must commit to donating $50 per meeting ($200 per year).

  • If you are unable to attend, give your check to another member to deliver on your behalf. Your check will serve as your proxy vote.

  • Meetings are held once per quarter, and usually lasts up to an hour. We can always add time in for socializing!

  • All members must donate to the non-profit charity selected during the voting process, even if the chosen charity was not their first choice.

  • Anyone with an interest in supporting non-profit charities in the Culpeper, Rapphannock, Fauquier area is welcome to join us! Members are asked to sign a letter of commitment. Please see the "Get Involved" tab for more information.

Charity Selection Process

  • Three non-profit charities will be under consideration at each meeting and will be chosen by random drawing at the meeting.

  • A member may enter a different organization into the drawing at each meeting they attend. (Only one entry per charity at a time is allowed in the drawing.)

  • If there is an immediate emergency need at the time of the meeting, it can be presented as one of the choices, if it has been properly researched by a member.

  • Each organization that is drawn must be presented by a member. The member will be given 5 minutes to make a case for supporting that charity. Guidelines for presenting a charity can be found in the Members section. If the sponsoring member is not present, the entry will be put back into the drawing for another meeting.

  • Following the presentations, members will vote on which charity to support. Majority rules.  You must donate to the charity which wins the vote, even if you did not vote for it.

  • Charities which do not win support will be put back into the drawing for future consideration.

  • Charities may be presented again for consideration after one calendar year.

  • Find Charity Qualification Form here.

 Charity Qualifications

  • Only 501(c)(3) organizations will be considered. A 501(c)(3) has been officially recognized by the IRS as a tax exempt charitable organization and should have a letter from the IRS confirming this status.

  • Donations will be given strictly to Culpeper, Rappahannock and Fauquier area non-profits. Local chapters of national charities will be considered if 100% of the contribution stays in the community.

  • The charity selected must agree NOT to use the individual donors' names for future solicitations or give their information to the public. If the charity does not adhere to this condition, it will be removed from any future consideration.

Making Donations to the Selected Charity

  • Donations are made directly to the selected non-profit by individual members. 100+ Women does not handle any of the funds and does not receive any proceeds. All donations go directly to the selected charity.

  • You will be provided a tax deduction statement via email from our chapter or directly by the charity.
